It’s The Weekend!!!
Let’s talk about eating out and staying on track so that you don’t ruin all of your hard work from during the week.
How many of us in this group eat out or order out at least 1x/week?
What about 2x/week?
Anyone up to 3 or more meals/week?
Don’t be ashamed…we all lead very busy lives and it’s a heck of a lot more convenient to eat out than shop, cook and clean! Plus, it’s more fun too!
Feel free to print this out and hang it where it’s visible, as a reminder to you on the weekends.
As far as eating out goes the best advice I can give you is to PLAN in advance!
Most restaurants have their menu listed online. If there are places you almost always go start looking them up now & see what you can find out. No menu online – call & ask if they can scan/email one to you, fax or even mail it to you.
Why do this? I like to make my decision ahead of time so that I’m not tempted once I get there.
Alternatively, you can find places that you know you’ll be able to find healthy eats & suggest them to your friends & family. Tell them you read really good reviews online, or you’d really like to try so & so, etc in an effort to steer the ship in your direction when you can.
Another tip, is to remember that choosing whole real foods will always be the best idea in order to stick with the plan. Always choose grilled or baked or broiled over fried and feel free to ask for your veggies steam instead of smoking in butter. Most restaurants will gladly accommodate you…all you have to do is ask!
We all know that cheat meals are in everyone’s life & I think that it is great for people who won’t be derailed by them. Meaning….make it a cheat MEAL, not a cheat DAY or WEEK!
Here are some of my personal tips I follow when going out to eat and it’s not a scheduled “cheat meal.”
~ Drink my Shakeology beforehand so I’m not absolutely starving when we arrive.
~ Skip the appetizer, share one or have a salad instead of the deep fried calamari. I always find that my eyes are bigger than your stomach and I’m not that hungry when my meal comes. But, i feel compelled to eat all of it, overeat and feel like crap!
it’s a vicious cycle…LOL!!!
~ If you’re having cocktails, wine or beer, remember to have 1 glass of water for every alcoholic beverage. This will help to keep the sugar content down and the hangover at bay!
~Skip or share dessert!
